Vacancies on the UCML Executive for 2008
UCML is holding elections for vacancies on the executive which will arise on 1 August 2008.
The following posts will be vacant at the end of July 2008

What would these posts entail?
Honorary Secretary
- To assist the Chair in the role of lobbying, liaison, networking and representation on behalf of UCML and its members.
- To ensure that the constitution of UCML and associated Standing Orders are upheld, and to review these at designated intervals for agreement by the General Council.
- To ensure the maintenance of records, such as minutes, membership details, Executive Committee attendance logs etc., in association with the UCML Secretariat, and to publicise these as appropriate in paper-based and electronic form.
- To ensure that elections to the Executive Committee, in association with the UCML Secretariat, are run with due diligence and to inform members of the outcome.
- To process applications for membership of the General Council, in association with the UCML Secretariat.
- To promote the benefits of UCML membership in order to recruit new members.
- To act at all times in the interests of UCML and its members.
- (approx time commitment c20 days per annum, including attendance at 4 Executive Committee meetings, plus 2 General Council meetings)
Ordinary members
- To assist the Chair in the role of lobbying, liaison, networking and representation on behalf of UCML and its members.
- To articulate the concerns of those constituencies represented by roles on the Executive Committee.
- To support the organisation in taking forward the priorities identified by the Executive Committee as a whole, on behalf of the General Council.
- To promote the benefits of UCML membership in order to recruit new members.
- To act at all times in the interests of UCML and its members.
- (approximate time commitment c7 days per annum including attendance at 4 Executive Committee meetings, plus 2 General Council meetings)
What is the election schedule
The LLAS Subject Centre will organise the elections on behalf of the UCML Executive.
Candidates should complete a nomination form and send it to Carol Churchouse at the LLAS Subject Centre by Friday 4 April 2008.
Ballot papers will be sent out to representatives of all UCML member institutions/organisations within two weeks of the deadline for nominations.
Deadline for receipt of completed ballot papers will be Friday 9 May 2008.
It is hoped that newly elected members to the Executive will be able to attend the Plenary meeting of UCML on 30 June 2008 at London School of Economics.
